Barbara Ann Winfield

Barbara Winfield Obituary

Barbara Ann Margaret Winfield was born on December 4, 1938 in Coatesville, PA, to the late Theodore D. Jackson and Dorothy R. Winfield Acree. She was raised by her beloved grandparents, the late Herman and Lydia Carter.

At an early age, Barbara accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour and was baptized in the Bethel A.M.E. Church, Coatesville, PA. In 2008, she rededicated her life to Christ and became a member of Salem Baptist Church, Abington, PA (formerly Jenkintown, PA). She served many years as a Trustee and participated in the annual Christmas Bazaar.

Barbara was educated in the Coatesville public school system, graduating from the S. Horace Scott Senior High School. A strong supporter of education, Barbara furthered her education by attending the Columbia Institute, Taylor Business School in Philadelphia, PA.

Throughout her professional career, Barbara had one full-time Employer, the Federal Government. During her thirty-five years of service, she held a variety of positions. After retiring in 1993, she continued to work for private companies. Barbara also started her cookie business, baking delicious cookies for many.

Affectionately called Peggie by family and friends, she was also a consummate seamstress. She made many of her clothes and found time to sew for others. Her handiwork was on display throughout the Philadelphia area.

Barbara was an avid traveler. She traveled to Europe, the Orient, South America, the Bahama Islands and throughout the United States and Canada.

Barbara was a loyal friend, sister and wonderful Godmother. She was caring and concerned about the welfare of others. Her warm smile, understanding spirit and sense of adventure were a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memory and legacy: brother, Larry Jackson; sister, Crystal Johnson (Reginald); Godchildren, Debra Gibbs (Larry), Kyen Pearcy Jenkins (Leroy), Michael Pearcy (Monica); nephew, Larry Jackson !!; nieces, Erin Christian-Johnson and Anaya Johnson; grand nephews, Samir and Caen; grand nieces, Sariyah, Audrey and Kali; and a host of other cousins and dear friends.
